TYPES OF INSTITUTIONAL AID
Tuition remission is a deduction in tuition available to any student with a household income equal to or less than 200% of the poverty rate as published annually by the Department of Health and Human Services and who does not qualify for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Employment and Training (SNAP E&T) Grant or any other form of federal financial assistance. Tuition remission is subject to the availability of funds determined by the President and CEO of Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Louisiana, Inc. (Goodwill). Tuition remission can be requested at any time.
The Employment and Training (E&T) program under SNAP is a package of services, which includes assessment, component activities, participant reimbursements and follow-up. The purpose of the E&T program is to assist SNAP participants in gaining skills, training, work or experience that will increase their ability to obtain regular employment. To determine eligibility for the E&T see your caseworker.
Louisiana Rehabilitation Services provides assistance to help pay educational costs for students who have a physical or mental disability which for the individual constitutes or results in a substantial impediment to employment. This program usually covers the expense of tuition, fees, and educational materials.
Eligibility is predicated upon an individual with a disability benefitting from vocational rehabilitation services in terms of achieving employment, including supported employment. Therefore, applications for services are accepted at the time an individual with a disability reaches or nears the minimum age of legal employability. To apply, students should contact the Louisiana Rehabilitation Services regional office in their area:
